Inaugural Dallas Antiquarian Book Fair Set for June 20-22

The Texas Booksellers Association (TBA) announces the first of its kind Dallas Antiquarian Book Fair which is being sponsored by the Southwest Chapter of the ABAA, Half Price Books and Potter and Potter Auctions. The three-day event will begin with a Friday night preview on June 20 and continue through Sunday, June 22.

The hours for the show on Friday, June 20 will be from 5pm until 8pm, Saturday 10am to 5pm and on Sunday 10am to 3pm. Entry for the preview evening on Friday is $20 (good for all three days) and Saturday and Sunday $10.00

For those who plan to fly to Dallas, the venue is approximately 15 minutes from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and the host hotel is the Carrollton  Courtyard Marriott which will offer a special book fair rate for attendees.

The book fair is a partnership with the Southwest Chapter of the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of America whose members will exhibit, along with others from the Texas Booksellers' Association, at the 97,000 square foot Half Price Books warehouse showroom located at 1835 Forms Drive in Carrollton, Texas.

“Until this year, the only antiquarian shows of this caliber were held on the east or west coast,” said Michael Utt, Texas Bookseller Association organizer, “We hope this show provides a central location for even more bibliophiles.” The event is open to the public. Organizers are encouraging librarians, historians and collectors in all fields to attend to view rare books, manuscripts, maps, ephemera, photographs, association copies and all materials related to the printed word.

The Texas Booksellers Association is a group of independent booksellers and other book-related businesses in Texas and beyond. The primary goal of the Association is to join together and represent local booksellers and supporters of the book community in their efforts to cultivate interest in literature and book collecting. The Southwest Chapter of the ABAA is a regional division of the larger organization whose members are expected to exhibit many of their highly desirable items for the show.
