The Vermont Spring Book, Paper and Postcard Fair

This year the Vermont Antiquarian Booksellers Association is partnering with Saint Albans Community Arts to include some literary events in its Spring Fair on Sunday, June 1st from 10am to 4pm..  Activities this inaugural year include a local author open house with over fifteen Vermont authors, talks by Dawn Densmore-Parent on promoting books and on writing or ghost writing memoirs, and a workshop on stamped book edges.  The hope is to grow the weekend into a small literary festival.  For antiquarian books, J Kevin Graffagnino will be offering free book appraisals for Americana and Vermontiana from noon-2pm and Eleanor Brodeur, local postcard dealer and author, will be presenting her new book on the history and collecting of Vermont real photo postcards.

The Vermont Spring Book & Ephemera fair started over thirty years ago, and has witnesed many changes in that time. Today many collectors work primarily online, scouring the internet marketplaces and auction sites for interesting finds, and dealers have followed suit.  However, there are still those who value meeting in person, exchanging information, examining books before buying them, and enjoying the connection to the past.   About a dozen of the state's outstanding booksellers, some of whom normally sell exclusively online, will be bringing some of their most intriguing and interesting items to the show.

By expanding its offerings, VABA hopes to turn a new generation of readers into collectors by sharing the joys of handling, owning and collecting books and ephemera.
