The Rochester Area Booksellers Association announces the 2026 Rochester Book and Paper Fair (formerly the Rochester Antiquarian Book Fair) to be held on September 26th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Dome Arena in Henrietta, NY. For more than 50 years, Rochester area booksellers have proudly boasted of a bookish region that can generate enthusiasm for an annual book fair.
The Fair was begun in 1972 as a fundraiser for the Friends of the Library at the University of Rochester. It was a happy event that included cocktail parties for a few years at the president's house. With the exception of the Covid period, the fair has been held every year, and is generally acknowledged as the oldest non-ABAA antiquarian book fair in the country.
Bookselling has evolved, particularly in the past couple of decades, and despite predictions of the demise of the physical book, the Rochester Book and Paper Fair continues to celebrate both the book and the reader.
